01 / Premise

When it rests, Eclipse almost disappears.

Turn the top and the table reveals its glow.

The lamp stays minimally visible with a restrained ring of light. A deliberate rotation raises the nested layers below the tabletop, enlarging both its presence and the pool of ambient illumination.

A slim ring marks the lamp without asking for attention.

03 / Mechanism

A familiar motion,
scaled into furniture.

The internal logic of a twist-up lipstick tube becomes the lamp’s entire interaction: rotary input, guided vertical travel, controlled reveal.

One mechanism.
Sixteen provocations.

The early search deliberately ignored product category. Each sketch asked where controlled linear movement could conceal, expand, dispense, adjust, or animate.

05 / Resolution

From exposed mechanism
to quiet ritual.

The final direction keeps the mechanical movement legible, but folds it into a simple domestic gesture. The lamp does not switch between off and on; it moves between absence and presence.

Physical form trials

Choosing a language for movement.

Full-scale studies explored two readings of the lamp head: a mechanically legible stack and a broader form exploration. The stacked geometry moved forward because every layer makes the lamp's vertical travel visible.

06 / Jury presentation

The mechanism,
made tangible.

The working model was presented alongside the complete development panel at SPA Delhi. The display brought the mechanism study, form trials and full-scale table together as one continuous design argument.
